Splitboarding With Jones and Karakoram
Splitboarding is a unique way to get outdoors during the winter and really enjoy yourself while staying fit and active during the winter. If you are used to running, swimming, or doing some sort of outdoor activity that requires warm air, then splitboarding is a great way for you to have an adventure without the warmth. Splitboarding is like crosscountry skiing and backcountry snowboarding all in one. The snowboard splits in half to create cross country skis that allow you to travel uphill and to the top of mountains. Once you reach the top, or as high up as you would like to go, you switch the skis back into a snowboard, and fly down the mountain on completely untouched powder. This brings the term "powder" to a whole new light. In order to enjoy the backcountry on a splitboard, it is important to have the right set up... And sometimes, two companies come together and combine forces to make a ridiculously awesome product. The peanut butter and jelly of splitboarding would have to be the new, combined force of Jones Snowboards and Karakoram Bindings. With the Jones Solution splitboard you get the feel of a regular snowboard. The edge is solid and lets you ride through icy sections with full control, but when you hit the powder, the Jones Solution really soars. The Karakoram set up is great for any board, but is especially compatible with the Solution. They work together like clockwork. The easy-to-use Karakoram system is great when it comes to transitioning from touring to riding (and back). Getting into the backcountry and riding and touring is a lot of fun, and having a system and board that gives you the most out of the experience is key. The Karakoram and Solution duo is a great way to get a full enjoyment out of the splitboarding experience. |

Avalanche Probe and Beacon Uses!
Salt Lake Surf is a big fan of splitboarding in the backcountry of Utah's mountain ranges. We are also a fan of avalanche safety.
Safety from avalanches can be a matter of life and death, and gear like beacons and probes can play a big part in whether you live or die.
They are very important. Check out Salt Lake Surf to see more details about techniques to use on the mountain!

Racing on a Stand Up Paddle Board in Salt Lake
So much excitement can come from riding on a paddle board in Salt Lake. It doesn't matter if you are going out for a casual ride, to do some stretches, look at nature, catch some waves, or you take it to the next level and want to compete in some races.
No matter what you are doing, you are going to have a great time on a stand up paddle board. The two most exciting things on a SUP board are racing and catching waves. Doing both of these causes the most rush.
You can feel the adrenaline from competing with others, and feeling a wave pull you across the water creates a similar feeling of excitement.
If you are more of a tranquil or zen rider and want to just go out on the water and appreciate the world around you, then paddle boarding is amazing! YOu can ride out onto the water and stretch, lay down, read a book, meditate, or look at scenery.
No matter what you like about SUPing, Salt Lake Surf in Utah has you covered. Stop in today and check out the selection of Stand Up Paddle Boards.

What is Stand Up Paddle Boarding Salt Lake?
Stand up paddle boarding in Salt Lake is a new trend, but that doesn't mean that stand up paddle boarding or paddle surfing hasn't been around for a while. It originated in Hawaii, of course, in the 1960s, when surfers would stand up on their longboards and paddle out into the break to take pictures of others learning to surf.
50 years later, stand up paddle boarding has spread to every area along the coast and even inland to places like Salt Lake City. There are numerous reservoirs and lakes near Salt Lake City to stand up paddle on.
The reason for the rise in popularity is the ease of stand up paddle boarding. Unlike surfing, which takes months and even years to get good at, after a few hours you can be comfortable on a stand up paddle board. Paddle boarding does not require waves either, so you are not restricted to coastlines.
Surfing uses the force created by waves to propel you through the water. SUP'ing comes with a paddle. So you simply stand on the board and push yourself through the water with your paddle.
That doest mean that you can't surf on them though. With a stand up paddle board you can travel long distances through the water, find waves to surf, and ride them all day. Its a great workout and will keep you in shape during the summer.
It's calm and peaceful being able to go out on the water with just a surf board seperating you from the deep blue. Salt Lake Surf Co is a supporter and supplier of Stand Up Paddle Boards in Utah.
